Hi ALL,
A quick update regarding the UIUX workshop on 30 May (#MC3) and 6 June (#MC4):
Understand that due to a shortage of mentors, there will be some teams who are unable to obtain mentorship this year. To ensure that all teams can receive adequate help and compete equally on Splashdown, I’ll be doing post-consultations after the workshop. I’ve also invited two other guys to help me out with this – Terence Chok (existing Orbital Mentor) and external guest Ryan Tan (former NUS E-Gaming Society chairperson).
A little information about Ryan, he is a CS graduate with a focus on Game Development. He had led several E-Game Competitions during his stint as the organization Chairperson. He is well-versed with the game scene in Singapore and has co-developed several games with the recent being 'Fuzz N Buzz' available on Google and Apple App store. Since there is a significant number of teams who are doing game-related projects this year, this is a good opportunity to receive guidance from an industry expert. Teams that signed up for consultation and embark on related projects are likely to receive consultation from him. The rest would either go to me or Terence.
As for Terence, most should be familiar with him by now. He is a four-time advisor and an existing tutor in NUS. Regardless of the allocated “consultant”, please be assured that the person is qualified to assist you when you signed up for the workshop.
Each consultation session will span for 30 min between 12.30 to 4 pm. A total of 6 post-consultation sessions will be conducted per workshop. Since we have 3 helpers including myself, there should be more than enough sessions to cater to everyone, i.e., 6 x 3 sessions per workshop. Sessions will be conducted using a separate Zoom channel for each team.
As for the registration instruction, Prof Zhao Jin will be putting up a form on Slack this week (alongside with the UIUX workshop form) to indicate your interest and availability.
As time is precious, ensure that you prepare your questions in advance and make the most out of the session. Do not waste the opportunity.
Additional note: This consultation is mainly catered to those without a mentor; those with one should approach them for help instead. However, I’ll make further announcements should there be any spare capacity left after the registration is complete.
Best of luck.
Leslie, Orbital Mentor 2020.
