Dear Mr Kok Yong,
We would like to request your mentorship to develop our project, Well Nash. We strongly believe that your background in backend development will be greatly beneficial to us in creating a smooth user experience, and we hope to be able to work with you.

Why did we choose this project?
As undergraduate students at the National University of Singapore (NUS), we have dealt with the limitations imposed by our busy schedules and the limitations of the UTown Gym. The amount of time available each day to go to the gym varies drastically due to commitments. Moreover, the UTown Gym is an overcrowded space and equipment is often unavailable, with long lines present. This makes it inefficient for gymgoers to maintain a feasible routine to maximise their gains.
Recognizing these challenges, we hope to leverage technology to make the gym experience more accessible, efficient, and personalized for everyone.

Hello Kok Yong,

We are developing a Multiplayer Real Time Strategy game called San Graha and would be keen to have your mentorship. Currently, what we need guidance in the most is the Software Engineering best practices and how we can ensure we pertain to it at every step. As inexperienced developers, we truly believe that your advice would be beneficial in not only ensuring that San Graha is a fun game to play for players, but also a fruitful experience for us to create and learn from.

Sincerely,
Team YnY

Hello Kok Yong,

We are TuneGether, a team that aims to create a cross-platform mobile app that aims to improve the music scene by bringing musicians together, whether it be to simply meet for a jam session or to perform gigs with an entire band. Here are the materials:

With your experience in backend application development, we feel that your guidance would be extremely useful for us as we intend to implement many features which require heavy backend expertise, such as:

  • a swipe feature to browse between all available profiles for matching of musicians
  • a chat feature to allow individuals to interact with other profiles across the app
  • database manipulation (creating, storing and accessing profiles).
Furthermore, we feel that software engineering practices are extremely important to ensuring that our application runs smoothly and provides the best experience for those who wish to consume it, aligning with what you are looking for; a team that places emphasis on solid software engineering principles and practices.

Under your mentorship, we will be able to create an app that will greatly improve the music scene, allowing musicians to find fellow hobbyists as well as furthering their passion for music, all while learning and growing as developers ourselves.

Yours Sincerely,
Jaylon Tan
