Hi Jiaming,

Team WagTrack is reaching out because we believe your expertise and interests align perfectly with our project, WagTrack, and we would be thrilled to have you as our mentor.

About Us

WagTrack is a Flutter app designed for Animal Service Providers (AVS) to be used in real-life scenarios. We're working with data from YSN and have four AVS mentors providing us with valuable insights to ensure the app meets their needs. The main goal is to prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases in Singapore through biosurveillance for pet owners. Additionally, WagTrack will serve as a platform for pet owners to learn about animal welfare, track, and share their moments with their pets. With user consent, the collected data will be used to enhance veterinary practices and enable early detection of zoonotic diseases.

Why Us?

One crtiical area where your mentorship would be particularly helpful is with sensitive data handling. Given your experience, we believe you could provide us with crucial guidance on managing health-related data safely and effectively.

Furthermore, our tech stack includes Flutter and Firebase. Your experience with Flutter would be immensely beneficial in helping us develop our app and reach new heights.

We're a passionate team working on an innovative idea that tackles real-world problems in the animal care industry. We're eager to learn from your experience in startups and cross-domain knowledge.

I hope this sparks your interest! We'd be grateful for the opportunity to discuss WagTrack further and explore the potential for mentorship.

Thank you for considering our request.

Best Regards,
Zyon & Zee :)

Hi Jiaming! We are Jouzu, the platform that aims to teach people Japanese through organic conversations. After interviewing more than 50 Japanese learners from language centers and in school, we realize that most people find it difficult to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical use of Japanese. Everyone learned to talk as little babies by jumping right into it and picking up patterns as we go, so why can’t we do so with new languages?

Jouzu wants to achieve organic language learning by getting learners to converse with each other, receiving corrections from an AI Japanese teacher to correct their mistakes on-demand. We want learners to only pick up the most practical and useful knowledge, and be able to communicate as soon as possible.

Our current plan is to build our frontend using React Native, and Backend with Django, generating AI feedback using OpenAI's API.
Our app will ship with two flagship features:

  1. Matching learners and facilitating conversation with AI teacher
  2. Generative Flashcards with dynamic examples that strengthen association between words

However, we are in talks with several Japanese educators to understand the problem space on a deeper level. We are prepared to change our development plans in future sprints to cater to the needs of real-world users.

We are eager to build a solution that will be adopted by our target users as soon as possible, but we also don't want to sacrifice code quality and proper practices, especially system design and CI/CD decisions.
It would be amazing to have your guidance on this journey with your wealth of knowledge and experience in full-stack engineering and product design. We're eager to learn how to create a more usable, impactful product from you and incorporate proper SWE principles to reduce technical debt as we bring this project into the long-term.

Thank you for spending time to read about our project, looking forward to learning from you!

Dear Mentor Jiaming,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Zeyuan, and together with my teammate Stanley, we are developing an app called Uniwell, aimed at helping university students maintain a healthy balance between their academic responsibilities and personal well-being. We are passionate and self-directed learners, committed to mastering software engineering principles and creating a meaningful impact on student life.

We were impressed by your extensive experience in full-stack engineering, product definition, and solution design, as well as your leadership roles in both multinational corporations and start-ups. As active members of the NUS AI/Lambda Club and the NUS Hackers, we continuously seek opportunities to grow and learn. Additionally, our involvement in the NUS Freshmen Orientation Programme, where we oversee around 20 OGLs and 200 students, has given us a deep understanding of the challenges new students face.

We believe that your mentorship would be invaluable to our project. We are eager to learn and take on any advice you can offer. We are confident that with your guidance, we can refine and enhance Uniwell to reach its full potential and create a lasting impact. We would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss our project with you in more detail and explore the possibility of having you as our mentor.

Thank you for considering our request. We look forward to the possibility of working with you.

Best regards,
Zeyuan and Stanley

Hi Jiaming,
We are team FlashForge. We aim to revolutionize the way students and professionals create and use flashcards by automating flashcard creation and integrating AI technology. Our goal is to enhance traditional flashcard functionality with automated features, making the learning process faster, more efficient, and highly effective.

Why did we choose this project?
The idea for FlashForge emerged from our own frustrations with existing flashcard apps. We found that the manual process of creating flashcards was tedious and time-consuming, often detracting from valuable study time. As students who value efficient and effective study tools, we recognized the need for an intelligent solution that could streamline this process. By automating flashcard creation and incorporating AI-powered features, we aim to help learners focus more on studying and less on preparation, thereby improving productivity and knowledge retention.

How?
FlashForge is a full-stack development project, and we are picking up skills in software engineering to build a scalable and functional product. Our app will automatically generate flashcards from highlighted text, track memorization performance, and use AI to enhance learning with rephrased content and visual aids. We believe your expertise in the field can greatly benefit our project, guiding us in refining our approach and enhancing the app's capabilities.

Feel free to contact us or refer to the attached proposal and poster to learn more about who we are, our project timeline, and the specifics of FlashForge. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you and benefit from your mentorship. Thank you for your consideration!
