Hello @"Jeremy Tan" !
As shown in our trailer, we are aiming to make a roguelike platformer game. We saw in your portfolio that you are a very experienced software engineer, with both front and back end experience.

Our main features includes parkour platformer levels, combat with dashes and without weapons, and unique upgrades to include different playstyles throughout the game, as well as possibly procedurally generated levels, New game + and user mods support.

Although our proof of concept still has a lot of mechanics that has not yet been implemented, we hope it displays our ideas and visions and that it may appeal to you as an interesting project that perhaps you could guide us in.
Thanks for your consideration!

Hello Jeremy,

We are a pair of passionate students interested in building products that solve issues and make the lives of others easier and better.

Omniflix is an app to help users search, organise and track the immense number of entertainment options available out there, ranging from movies and tv series to watch, books to read and games to play.

As first-year students who enjoy fast-paced development of solutions, we believe that we have much to learn with regards to writing good quality code and software engineering best practices, whilst still being able to push out features in a short span of time.

From this mentorship, we hope to develop our skills and knowledge to take on projects that create a meaningful impact in future. Currently, our team takes on multiple projects in CAPT - developing a Telegram bot for laundry room management in the RC, and maintaining Treeckle.

Feel free to contact us via email / Telegram should you have any questions.

Thank you for your consideration!

Hello Jeremy,

Our game is a 2D top-down RPG inspired by the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. Players will be able to play as a capybara to explore dungeons, fight monsters, cook items found in dungeons to make food, make friends, own property (taverns), buy and sell items and play side quests, while there is a main story mode to explore the entire map of the land. More in depth details about the game can be found inside our project proposal.

In our poster and video, you can see screengrabs of our gameplay and you can see that it is a fun and exciting game we plan to develop. With your mentorship, we can take this game project to greater heights, than what we can do on our own. Hope to hear from you soon.

Trying our best,
The Happy Capys Team

Dear Mr Tan,
We are Team Well Nash. Our aim is to create an all-in-one fitness mobile app for beginners and fitness enthusiasts alike. We strongly believe that your mentorship and technical experience in mobile app development will be greatly beneficial to us. Given our limited knowledge in these fields, we look forward to the possibility of working with you and benefiting from your insights.

Why did we choose this project?
As undergraduate students at the National University of Singapore (NUS), we have dealt with the limitations imposed by our busy schedules and the limitations of the UTown Gym. The amount of time available each day to gym varies drastically due to commitments. Moreover, the UTown Gym is an overcrowded space and equipment is often unavailable with long lines being present. This makes it inefficient for gymgoers to maintain a feasible routine to maximise their gains.
Recognizing these challenges, we hope to leverage technology to make the gym experience more accessible, efficient, and personalized for everyone.

Please contact us or refer to the attached proposal and poster for more information on who we are, our project timeframe, and the specifics of Well Nash. We are excited to collaborate with you and learn from your guidance. Thank you for your consideration!

Hi Jeremy,

Who are we?
We hope to create a fully-functional web app that can assist musicians in finding someone else that they can play with. Our goal is for musicians to be able to swipe through the available pool on the app in order to find other musicians/bands based on their criteria, such as follows:

Musicians who play any specific instrument in a given genre with the intent on forming a band
Musicians that are looking for someone to practice with.
Musicians who are looking for bands outside of their genre to experiment with.
Musicians who can fill in for studio sessions.
Bands who are looking for new members.
Users can then sort through the list of available musicians/bands in order to get a focused list of all candidates that fit the descriptions of what they are looking for.
Why did we choose this project?
Having been in the same band since secondary school, one of the most troublesome aspects of jamming and practicing together was finding new members after previous ones left. There were quite a few musicians from our school, but they always had some caveat that made them incompatible with the rest of our band — they did not like the genre we played, song choices or their style did not suit us. This got us thinking that there must be a better way to find people to play with. Hence, we decided to create a platform where musicians are able to congregate will help all musicians on and off the music scene.

Why us?
We're a curious and passionate team aiming to improve the music scene in Singapore from the convenience of your phone. We are excited to benefit from your experience as a software engineer, especially in industry coding standards and best practices in software engineering and cross-platform mobile development. Your guidance will be incredibly valuable in helping us develop our app and reach new levels of success. If you are someone who enjoys listening to music or even playing music yourself, then we are the team for you!

Best Regards,
Jaylon Tan

Dear Mentor Jeremy,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Zeyuan, and together with my teammate Stanley, we are developing an app called Uniwell, aimed at helping university students maintain a healthy balance between their academic responsibilities and personal well-being. We are passionate and self-directed learners, committed to mastering software engineering principles and creating a meaningful impact on student life.

We were impressed by your extensive experience in full-stack web and mobile development, as well as your work in building progressive and responsive web apps. As active members of the NUS AI/Lambda Club and the NUS Hackers, we continuously seek opportunities to grow and learn. Additionally, our involvement in the NUS Freshmen Orientation Programme, where we oversee around 20 OGLs and 200 students, has given us a deep understanding of the challenges new students face.

We believe that your expertise and interest in rapid prototyping and building user-friendly apps would be invaluable to our project. We are eager to learn and take on any advice you can offer. We are confident that with your guidance, we can refine and enhance Uniwell to reach its full potential and create a lasting impact. We would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss our project with you in more detail and explore the possibility of having you as our mentor.

Thank you for considering our request. We look forward to the possibility of working with you.

Best regards,
Zeyuan and Stanley

Hi Jeremy! We are Jouzu, the platform that aims to teach people Japanese through organic conversations. After interviewing more than 50 Japanese learners from language centers and in school, we realize that most people find it difficult to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical use of Japanese. Everyone learned to talk as little babies by jumping right into it and picking up patterns as we go, so why can’t we do so with new languages?

Jouzu wants to achieve organic language learning by getting learners to converse with each other, receiving corrections from an AI Japanese teacher to correct their mistakes on-demand. We want learners to only pick up the most practical and useful knowledge, and be able to communicate as soon as possible.

Our current plan is to build our frontend using React Native, and Backend with Django, generating AI feedback using OpenAI's API.
Our app will ship with two flagship features:

  1. Matching learners and facilitating conversation with AI teacher
  2. Generative Flashcards with dynamic examples that strengthen association between words

However, we are in talks with several Japanese educators to understand the problem space on a deeper level. We are prepared to change our development plans in future sprints to cater to the needs of real-world users.

We are eager to build a solution that will be adopted by our target users as soon as possible, but we also don't want to sacrifice code quality and proper practices like CI/CD.

Your guidance would be invaluable to us in making the correct design decisions as we try to churn out features to meet the needs of our users as quickly as possible, without leaving technical debt as we take this project long-term beyond just Orbital. Can't wait to learn how to create more user-friendly solutions from you!

Thank you for spending time to read about our project :D
