Deliverables:

Dear Mr Wong Kang Fei,

We are Project Sage and our Orbital project is Odyssey, a rougelite RPG, aimed at providing players with an engaging combat game that explores the adventures adapted from the chapters of the famous Chinese novel "Journey to the West". In our game, players can look forward to learning the mechanics of each character and utilising in-battle character swapping to conquer various chapters and their unique chapter-specific mechanics, thereby guaranteeing an immersive gaming experience for all!

Our rationale for choosing to pursue game development for Orbital '23 stems from our curiosity on the game development scene. Thus we have set out to utilise the valuable opportunity provided by Orbital to learn important SE practices through developing our very own game!

Equipped with the lore of the highly regarded "Journey to the West", we believe we have a strong foundation for a game that allows players to explore the many adventures that are written in the popular novel and we are fully committed to realising this potential. We hope to tap on your wealth of experience in software development as well as your experience in game development (which you've mentioned) to guide us and allow us to achieve the goals that we have set for this Orbital project

Feel free to peruse the attached materials for a better understanding of the specifics of our project as well as to contact us on the relevant platforms should the need arise!

We look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers,
Project Sage (5827)

Dear Wong Kang Fei

We are contacting you to express our interest in getting you on board as our mentor in Orbital 2023. After reviewing the requirements that you are looking out for, we believe that our project will be a great match.

Our project aims to enable all students to experience interdisciplinary learning, an area that we find extremely valuable. This means that students can easily access materials from other majors and faculties, learn beyond the scope of their majors and even connect with students beyond their faculty. Interdisciplinary learning is important because it enables us to generate new links between different concepts and create new ideas and products from this link. Hence, we hope to create an app that will be a one stop shop for all NUS students. Users will be able to publish their own articles, access cross-faculty resources and network with students with similar interests. The tech stack of our application includes Flutter, Firebase, MySQL.

Our team comprises driven individuals who are passionate about creating innovative solutions that not only solve real-world problems but also push the boundaries of what is possible in software engineering. We are passionate about software engineering and driven to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical industry applications. Hence, we are seeking a mentor with a wealth of experience in the field who can provide insights, advice and feedback as we develop our project. We are reaching out to you because we saw your passion and wealth of experience in software engineering as well as product development and we believe that your expertise would be a valuable asset to our team.

We will greatly appreciate your review of our project proposal, poster and video. If you are interested in being our mentor for the Orbital project, please let us know. We would be honoured to have you on board. Thank you!

Hi Wong Kang Fei! @"Wong Kang Fei"
Splitmah is a bill-splitting app. With an ever increasing number of payment methods, we understand that splitting expenses can be a hassle, especially when dealing with multiple people, and multiple expenses of varying amounts and types. Splitmah aims to simplify the process of finding out who owes what, thereby making managing shared expenses a breeze.

We hope that by having you as our mentor, we get to learn more about software development and obtain guidance from someone who is vastly more experienced than us.

Despite having little prior experience in SWE, as a team, we are committed to learning as much as we can, and are willing to tough it out to produce a quality bill-splitting app. We are eager to learn as much we can about software engineering, and most importantly, from you.
We hope you consider being a mentor for our team. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Team doomah pay | 5708

Dear Mr Wong,

We are reaching out to you to express our interest in having you as our mentor for our project, Make it Count.

Make it Count is a mobile and web application that aims to allow NUS staff and students to better manage their nutrition and well-being through the use of Artificial Intelligence and gamification. We aim to implement an image recognition AI that can recognise dishes served in NUS canteens and provide the nutritional breakdown and calorie information of the dish. Furthermore, Make it Count uses machine learning to be able to provide personalised and customisable meal and workout plans based on NUS facilities.

Our project involves cross platform mobile and web development, as well as the use of databases for authentication and image storing purposes. We intend to use Flutter for the mobile application and React for the website. We believe that you would be an excellent mentor for our group and we would benefit greatly from your insights and expertise in these areas. Despite not having much experience in these areas, we are committed to learning and making this project a successful one. We hope to develop good development practices under your guidance and support.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Mr Wong,

We are Team Polaris. We plan to develop an Augmented Reality (AR) application on our mobile phones that provide an experience similar to stargazing.

Being avid stargazers ourselves, we feel it is a shame that there are those who have never experienced the beauty of the universe and the sheer scale of it. In light-polluted Singapore, we wanted to share a glimpse of that joy with those that were never given the opportunity, anywhere, at any time, through the convenience of their phones. In doing so, we hope that users will be more keen to learn more and appreciate the vast space that we call home.

We hope to provide a pleasant user experience in using React.js for front-end development and mainly Unity Engine for the AR development. We hope to provide users with a seamless experience to view the night sky. With your experience in full-stack development, we look forward to having you as our mentor!

Feel free to contact us and check out further details in the attached materials! Thank you for your consideration!

Best regards,
Polaris

Gupta Aryan

@"Wong Kang Fei"
Hi Wong,

I'm Aryan Gupta, a member of Team Kuhaku, alongside Satvik Shankar. We would love to have you onboard as our mentor for Orbital 2023, and feel that we would be a good match.

With our project, we aim to create an ideal investment platform to help people with mechanism for investment of the financial knowledge for the same, to diversify their savings portfolio. Why? Here in India, most middle class families put all their savings in fixed deposits (infact 95% of all savings, by a survey by RBI), and only a few keep mutual funds or stocks (only 8% of the people, as calculated by SEBI). This makes a large part of the population taking under-market returns on savings, and prone to a economic collapse. Well, there's more background, and you can go through the proposal for a lot of it.

Why did we pick you? This is simple to answer. Sadly, we have no prior experience in software development. This would be our first project, and so we have hit multiple roadblocks already. Someone might think that a business-oriented mentor might be better, right now we feel that we will be facing higher obstacles in development, which is what we maximize here in orbital first. And we think you're the person for it.

Why should you pick us? There are a lot of teams out there (and ones even before us), and we have no experience to boot. However, it is because of the same, and that we are here at the Arthemis level of orbital, that we will not let anyone else best us in putting in the hardwork. We are passionate, adaptable and look to creatively explore and solve the problem. With your experience, we can take our project to the highest level, and even beyond orbital.

Here are the links to our proposal, poster, and liftoff video. We would love you feedback on these, and would be honored to have you onboard our project.

You can reach out to us at aryan@u.nus.edu or e1070591@u.nus.edu (email), @AryanGupta9803 or @Jfkivtas2804 (Telegram), 91202887 or 86475168 (Whatsapp).

Dear Wong Kang Fei @"Wong Kang Fei",

We are writing to you to express our interest in having you as our mentor here at Team HawkerBro.

HawkerBro is a mobile application that seeks to connect hawker stall owners and consumers. The hawker culture in Singapore is very unique. However, due to rising food prices and cost of living, the hawker culture is weakening. This has led to a decline in the number of hawker stalls and thus, a loss in some of our traditional foods that are integral to our identity.

This mobile application aims to contribute to the preservation of the hawker culture in Singapore. By increasing the accessibility to affordable and diverse hawker food, we can connect consumers to hawker owners to support our local entrepreneurs.

Our team comprises individuals who are keen in learning new software engineering practices that can help create solutions to industry problems. We decided to reach out to you as your area of interest aligns with the expertise that we require in carrying out our project. We are sure that with your guidance, we will be able to upgrade our knowledge in this field to complete our task and hopefully deploy it for public use.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best Regards,
Team HawkerBro (#5793)
