Hi Dong Yu!

We are Jaime and Ying Ling from Team roamio and we are reaching out to you because we believe your expertise aligns perfectly with our project goals. We are eager to learn more from you about Agile, Backend development and DevOps – which we are not so familiar with – as we’ve read that you are experienced in these areas.

We are working on an all-in-one travel planning web application, ‘roamio’, to simplify the travel planning experience. Just fill in the country, dates and airline of your trip, and the application will help generate your packing lists and suggest places for your itinerary, taking into account the country and weather based on the info you have provided. Users can collaborate and manage their packing lists and itinerary plans with other users. Additionally, we will incorporate language assistance for those travelling to foreign countries.

To realise our vision, we prioritise good UI & UX for our users. For our tech stack, we plan to utilise Typescript, ReactJS, ExpressJS and Firebase. We are exploring Scrum and DevOps as well. Furthermore, we are open to implementing ‘roamio’ as a progressive web application (PWA) to enhance its usability on all devices.

We are eager to discuss our project further with you and learn under your mentorship. Your guidance as a veteran in web application development would greatly contribute to the success of ‘roamio’.

Thank you for considering our request. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to work with you on this exciting project. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or require additional information.

Best regards,
Jaime and Ying Ling

Dear Dong Yu,
We are Yaohong and Chenbo from Team Unmei no Farfalla. We will embark on an ambitious project to create an open-world RPG game with Rogue-like, tower defence, gacha and dating simulator elements that could engage players up to 10 hours. As game enthusiasts, we are passionate to design our very own game with a good emphasis on UI/UX design and assets design. We have past experience working on CP3108 (“Source Academy”) and writing neat and extensible code that follows industry standards. We are also eager to try out new technologies to boost the efficiency of our code.
We look forward to a fruitful learning and developing journey under your guidance!

Dear Mr. Dong Yu,

We are William and Gerard from Team ConcernedFox, a pair of self-driven CS students who are trying to solve a current problem that is faced by most students: mental health and productivity problems. We are reaching out to you since we believe your experience in software development, especially in the backend and frontend development will greatly help us to build this application. We’ll be happy to meet you in person too!

We are working on our all-in-one student mentor mobile application, ‘Zenith’, to enhance the lives of students in both their personal and academic spheres. This application will allow students to not only schedule their assignments and study schedule rationally but also consider their mental state by giving the users tips related to mental health as well as productivity. With the gamification feature, Zenith will be able to track and use the data of the students to analyze their schedules and lifestyle. By providing a range of features that support emotional resilience and healthy habits, the application helps students build the skills and strategies they need to thrive both personally and academically.

To realize our vision, we prioritize robust backend & data analysis as well as good UI & UX for users. For our tech stack, we plan to utilize Java, Node.js, SupaBase, FireBase Test Lab, and Unity.

We are eager to discuss our project further with you and learn under your mentorship. Your guidance as a mentor would help us fulfill our goal to help students achieve their goals while also keeping a healthy mental state.

Thank you for your time! We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to work with you on this exciting project. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or require additional information.

Best regards,
William and Gerard (Team ConcernedFox)

Gupta Aryan

@"Dong Yu"

Hi Dong,

I'm Aryan Gupta, a member of Team Kuhaku, alongside Satvik Shankar. We would love to have you onboard as our mentor for Orbital 2023, and feel that we would be a good match.

With our project, we aim to create an ideal investment platform to help people with mechanism for investment of the financial knowledge for the same, to diversify their savings portfolio. Why? Here in India, most middle class families put all their savings in fixed deposits (infact 95% of all savings, by a survey by RBI), and only a few keep mutual funds or stocks (only 8% of the people, as calculated by SEBI). This makes a large part of the population taking under-market returns on savings, and prone to a economic collapse. Well, there's more background, and you can go through the proposal for a lot of it.

Why did we pick you? This is simple to answer. Sadly, we have no prior experience in software development. This would be our first project, and so we have hit multiple roadblocks already. Someone might think that a business-oriented mentor might be better, right now we feel that we will be facing higher obstacles in development, which is what we maximize here in orbital first. And we think you're the person for it.

Why should you pick us? There are a lot of teams out there (and ones even before us), and we have no experience to boot. However, it is because of the same, and that we are here at the Arthemis level of orbital, that we will not let anyone else best us in putting in the hardwork. We are passionate, adaptable and look to creatively explore and solve the problem. With your experience, we can take our project to the highest level, and even beyond orbital.

Here are the links to our proposal, poster, and liftoff video. We would love you feedback on these, and would be honored to have you onboard our project.

You can reach out to us at aryan@u.nus.edu or e1070591@u.nus.edu (email), @AryanGupta9803 or @Jfkivtas2804 (Telegram), 91202887 or 86475168 (Whatsapp).

Dear Dong Yu @"Dong Yu",

We are writing to you to express our interest in having you as our mentor here at Team HawkerBro.

HawkerBro is a mobile application that seeks to connect hawker stall owners and consumers. The hawker culture in Singapore is very unique. However, due to rising food prices and cost of living, the hawker culture is weakening. This has led to a decline in the number of hawker stalls and thus, a loss in some of our traditional foods that are integral to our identity.

This mobile application aims to contribute to the preservation of the hawker culture in Singapore. By increasing the accessibility to affordable and diverse hawker food, we can connect consumers to hawker owners to support our local entrepreneurs.

Our team comprises individuals who are keen in learning new software engineering practices that can help create solutions to industry problems. We decided to reach out to you as your area of interest aligns with the expertise that we require in carrying out our project. We are sure that with your guidance, we will be able to upgrade our knowledge in this field to complete our task and hopefully deploy it for public use.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best Regards,
Team HawkerBro (#5793)
