Who are We?
UniMates! is a centralized and streamlined platform for National University of Singapore (NUS) students, enabling them to effortlessly discover and connect with compatible peers. Utilizing an online-dating-app user interface that resembles Tinder / Bumble, students are able to find their most compatible partners for study buddies, academic projects, and other non-academic pursuits. By incorporating Gensim's doc2vec model, our ML-Powered recommendation system provides customizable profile suggestions that elevate the effectiveness and uniqueness of our application. At StarSnap, we aim to develop an identification model using Python and versatile libraries like TensorFlow. With your guidance, we hope to explore neural network architecture, large-scale training, and deployment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy for our model. Additionally, we are committed to creating an exceptional user experience through a seamless and visually appealing front-end interface utilising React, React Native, and Material UI. For our back-end infrastructure, we plan to utilise Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and NodeJS to build a robust and scalable back end. Furthermore, we were also looking to explore web deployment on scalable platforms like AWS. We hope to draw from your expertise to achieve these goals.

As such, our goal is to create a web application that benefits the NUS student body by providing a platform for students to connect and form groups.
