This is Team Advent, and we’re reaching out to you with the hope of having you as our mentor in Orbital 2023.
Our team is keen on building a web app that allows seamlessly integrating event registration forms into websites through iframe or code snippets provided. Our website will also act as a site storing data and an analytical dashboard for event organizers. We are huge advocates of a clean UI and a hassle-free experience for our users, with customizability being a feature we emphasize. To provide you with a better vision of our project, we would like to invite you to look at our video and poster.
The tech stack we have settled on includes some of the latest edge-cutting technologies like Next.js 13 and React 18. I believe our emphasis on a seamless user experience aligns with your specialization in UI, Software Engineering and your search for a team keen on designing interfaces with a focus on usability. We would also be immensely grateful to hear more insights from a co-founder of a startup since our app is directed towards startups and smaller event organizers. Hi Mr. Chun Yong,
We are Clay and Xenos, and our project is called RPGym. We aim to revolutionise the gym experience by making working out consistently fun and accessible for everyone. We plan to provide users with an all-in-one mobile application that combines an RPG-style gamification system and comprehensive workout tracking tools to help people stay motivated, log their progress, and achieve their fitness goals.
Both of us have started going to the gym recently, and we sometimes find it hard to stay motivated, especially without friends to consistently exercise with. In order to solve our problem, we wanted to make an application which makes staying motivated to exercise easier. We will implement gamification and peer accountability features to help with motivation, and implement workout tracking features that allow users to track their progress at the gym.
We aim to build a highly usable app that will bring fitness to more people, and we believe that your experience with UI/UX design and co-founding a fitness technology startup will be invaluable in guiding our project.

Hi Chun Yong,
We are Ivan Lee and Amy Ling from BeatIt.
Our project aims to improve the quality of life of dancers by simplifying processes such as reviewing videos or playing back music to practise different parts of the choreography.
How the app will work is that users can import their dance music into the app, which will give them the option to add bookmarks which they can then access while playing the music. Then with a push of a button, users can skip forward or back to the right moment to start practising the choreography.
In addition, users can also choose to overlay a new audio file of choice over their video should the original audio be too muffled or distorted. They can then choose to have the audio synced automatically to the video, removing the need for any wasted effort on the user’s end. This new video with higher quality sound helps dancers focus purely on remembering their steps instead of having to guess which part of the song they are at.
Our app will also serve as a form of visualisation for the different positions that dancers have to take on stage by providing ways for the video to be annotated. These annotations can then be shared with the other dancers as well, providing an effective way for choreographers to give feedback to their dancers.
We plan on using React Native for the frontend and Firebase for our backend databases. We will also make use of Python for signal processing and libraries such as FFmpeg for video processing.
We believe that your rich experience in ensuring usability and improving user experience for a specific target audience as a co-founder of a startup will provide us with plenty of insight into how we should design our mobile application to cater to our pretty specific target group as well. With our focus being to reduce the friction that dancers face in their practice sessions, providing them with a smooth user experience is high on our priority list as well.

We are William and Gerard from Team ConcernedFox, a pair of self-driven CS students who are trying to solve a current problem that is faced by most students: mental health and productivity problems. We are working on our all-in-one student mentor mobile application, ‘Zenith’, to enhance the lives of students in both their personal and academic spheres. This application will allow students to not only schedule their assignments and study schedule rationally but also consider their mental state by giving the users tips related to mental health as well as productivity. With the gamification feature, Zenith will be able to track and use the data of the students to analyze their schedules and lifestyle. By providing a range of features that support emotional resilience and healthy habits, the application helps students build the skills and strategies they need to thrive both personally and academically.
To realize our vision, we prioritize robust backend & data analysis as well as good UI & UX for users. For our tech stack, we plan to utilize Java, Node.js, SupaBase, FireBase Test Lab, and Unity.

Hi Mr Chun Yong,
We are Team Polaris. We plan to develop an Augmented Reality (AR) application on our mobile phones that provide an experience similar to stargazing.
Being avid stargazers ourselves, we feel it is a shame that there are those who have never experienced the beauty of the universe and the sheer scale of it. In light-polluted Singapore, we wanted to share a glimpse of that joy with those that were never given the opportunity, anywhere, at any time, through the convenience of their phones. In doing so, we hope that users will be more keen to learn more and appreciate the vast space that we call home.
We hope to provide a pleasant user experience in using React.js for front-end development and mainly Unity Engine for the AR development. We hope to provide users with a seamless experience to view the night sky. With your experience in Software Engineering and guiding previous students, we look forward to having you as our mentor!
