Hi Jian Jie!
We are Dylen and Jiayong from GetMeOut!. Dylen is a Year 1 Computer Science Student while Jiayong is a Year 1 Business Analytics Student.
Have you ever felt restless in Singapore and can’t wait to travel anywhere else? Yet, planning for travel is always the most difficult and tedious process when travelling. To make matters worse, there are even more processes and steps to take while travelling now due to Covid-19. As the world begins to move past Covid-19, restarting travel, we aim to make travelling easier and accessible to everyone.
We will be creating ‘GetMeOut!’, a cross platform mobile app envisioned to be the one in all travel solution for travellers on the go by providing important trip/travel information through the app as well as storing individual traveller’s documents and details. What makes ‘GetMeOut!’ unique is its Covid-19 features, users will be able to check for restrictions between countries such as quarantine and vaccination requirements. Users will also be able to save vaccination and Covid-19 test records for easier access during travel.
Our application will be heavily dependent on a strong backend as most of the information such as current travel restrictions will be queried from a server. This is similar to Mobbin's library where the content is stored server side and the website queries for content every time the user opens the website.
We have taken a look at your LinkedIn and GitHub and we noticed that you are the CTO and Co-founder at Mobbin. Developing such a library must have required significant back-end and UI/UX knowledge, which is exactly the kind of experience we need. With your experience in various Software Engineer roles and projects, we believe that there is plenty of overlap between what you already know and what we need to learn, hence we sincerely hope that we can work on Orbital together and learn from you.
We will be using Flutter for the frontend and postgres/Supabase for the backend. Jiayong has some experience as a Software Engineer Intern while I have mostly been tinkering around with my own Front-End projects. That aside, we are fast learners and we are always looking to learn from others, especially with regards to new tech stacks and industry-related experiences.
Last but no least, thank you for contributing your time to mentor the next batch of computing graduates. We are excited to work with you and we hope to hear from you soon!
