Dear JingWei,
First and foremost, thank you for offering to mentor us on our journey through Orbital! I am Praveen, and alongside my teammate Summer, we are Team JustShareLah. Together, we are humbly requesting an opportunity to be under your wing throughout Orbital :)
In this day and age, resource extraction is causing more and more problems for our environment. Thus, Summer and I hope to catalyse the movement towards reducing resource wastage, by enabling communities to tap on each others' resources. We hope to develop a mobile application that allows for seamless sharing of resources within communities!

Personalized message:
Dear Sir, our team is developing a web application that aims to organise a student’s task list that is accessible on all devices. Our application has 2 unique features. Firstly, it has a time-management and gamification system that encourages students to stay on track with their tasks. Secondly, it has the ability to create self-imposed deadline by accessing the student’s educational institution. We highly value your expertise in the entire stack and your experience in the tech industry. We are looking forward to learn from your experience throughout the mentorship and hope to gain insights on how to improve our project. Thank you.
Hi JingWei!
I am Rachel and with my teammate, Vinessa, we are Team VIRA. We would love to have you as our mentor to develop our mobile application, Retreat! Retreat is essentially a gamified budgeting application that aims to make money management a more fun and exciting experience for everyone. By providing a game-like experience, we hope to nurture healthy spending habits among our users. A more complete description of our application main features is available in our proposal, poster, and video which we have linked below.
We believe that your experience can greatly aid us not only in the development of this application, but also help us grow as developers.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to your reply!
Sincerely,
Team VIRA

Just to set some expectations - https://www.rackham.umich.edu/downloads/more-mentoring-guide-for-proteges.pdf I will be following this guide for how to mentor since I am fairly new to mentoring as well. The main crux from this document is that mentoring must be mentee-led, will not be pushing you all to complete your deliverables but I will be reachable for feedback / as someone to bounce ideas / approaches with.
We are StuBid (Year 1 CS and IS Students), also known as ‘Student Bidders’ who aims to innovate a one-stop mobile application (Similar to trading marketplace like Carousell) to allow students from all Singapore Universities to conveniently buy or sell unwanted items online through an anonymous bidding system.
The main theme of StuBid is ‘Anonymity’ which allows students to maintain their privacy and confidentiality, before/during the bidding process. Sellers can auction off their items to potential buyers, while buyers can submit their bid according to their preferred budget. When the final bid is accepted between the Seller and Buyer (Winning Bidder), the ‘Anonymity’ profile by both students will be released to each other (Contact details/information etc) where further transaction can take place.
Moreover, we realise that there is currently no online platform catered specifically for students in NUS or other universities to be able to buy/sell unwanted items. Therefore, StuBid not only serves as a marketplace for students, but also provide much needed convenience, assurance and freedom for students who wish to sell/buy items on an online platform.
We are highly motivated and hardworking individuals who have good interest in mobile development and other related applications. While we lack experience in software development, we are willing to put in our utmost effort to learn along the way. We wish to create a holistic and scalable application that can make a positive impact, as well as meeting the needs of our users. Our main goal is to learn something new, develop something cool, as well as having a fun, meaningful and memorable time together throughout the programme.
Feel free to contact us if our project resonates with you and we would be happy to schedule a call with you to discuss further.
The 100 Club - A Validated Concept with 20+ Interested Student Founders
Hi JingWei, thank you for volunteering to be part of Orbital. We believe your skillsets + prior experiences as a Programming Teacher, would make a great fit for our team, and we would love the opportunity to work together + learn from you. We’ve got a proven, validated concept, and a motivated team that will ensure strong initiative + planning frameworks to reduce any operational concerns on your end.
Entrepreneurship is difficult - it’s lonely, it’s tough to hold yourself accountable, and it’s not easy to explore uncharted territories. That is why our team is currently building The 100 Club, which is a mastermind membership platform + community, that matches entrepreneurial individuals into groups of 4, in order for them to support each other in staying accountable, sharing advice, and networking to grow their business.
Membership platform features include:
• Membership system
• Directory of Customisable User Profiles with Search Functionality
• Swag Store with Credits
• Mentorship access for chats
• Content Library
It is an idea that we are going to expand/commercialise in the future and we have already found traction with over 20+ student founders keen on joining us. Feel free to check out our material below! We hope you consider our proposal favourably and look forward to hearing from you. Cheers.

Hi JingWei, we are team Dabaogo. We are creating a mobile-centric food delivery service that would create an opportunity for students to not only make money when they go out to have lunch but also to help fellow students get lunch and potentially make new friends. We aim to create not just a food delivery service but a community where students help one another buy lunch and make friends along the way with a small monetary incentive spurring these acts of kindness. Your experience in software development would be instrumental in helping us craft a seamless and most optimized experience for our users and thus, we would be excited and honoured to have you on board as our mentor. We hope that you find our project meaningful and exciting as we are keen on working with you to create an app that can change the way students order food on campus.
Like many others in NUS Computer Science, Darren and I have spent most of our uni life grinding and studying. However, it has made us wonder if we are genuinely making the most out of our study time as we often get distracted by our own smart devices or slack off.
We used different study and project management techniques during the semester to solve our itch, such as keeping up with a Kanban-style to-do list and time-tracking how long each homework assignment takes. In addition, we wanted to track better how we performed daily to analyze whether or not we were studying effectively.
Despite seeing improvement in our study habits, we also realized that our workflow for recording our daily tasks was quite repetitive, and we used multiple applications in this process. This realization led wanting to create a web application that solves our problem and hope that it may potentially help other Gen Z students.
We believe that your experience building impactful fullstack software would make you a great mentor for our team.

We are Team Ka.Y.E., a team looking to create a customisable personal assistant with an interactive chatbot interface, which allows users to schedule and RSVP to events with other users. We hope to provide a seamless cross-application experience where all the utility of multiple apps, such as discord, telegram and google calendars are gathered in one place, accessible through an intuitive GUI on the webapp and an interactive chatbot on discord and telegram. More details on the functions of our application can be found in our proposal, video, and poster.
We were hoping that you will be willing to take us mentees, as I am sure that your experience will be immensely helpful in guiding us along in our orbital journey!
