Hi Esther,

We are team Floating Balloons and we plan to make a web-app called SPARK, a tool that makes great questions available to anyone.
We believe that questions have the power to create meaningful conversations and hope that SPARK would be a bold call to people to ask questions, stay curious, and make meaningful conversations. We liked your profile, and what stood out was your focus on user experience design. We really want our app to not just be good technically, but also ensure that the user and their experience of using it remains at the forefront. We look forward to working with you!

Why should the mentor pick your team?
Dear Esther,
We are a team of dedicated duo who is interested to build a new learning management system tailored to students at NUS School of Computing. In gist, we want to create a learning platform that supports student interaction via doing quizzes, QnA in a forum, and collating study resources. The catch is that we want to make the features integrate well with each other and close the learning feedback loop. We wish to take this opportunity to develop the product professionally, which means testing, coding, and also documentations are all parts of the plan. We hope to have you on board to provide us with end-user insights that we can learn and apply to make the UI/UX of the entire site better!

Cheers

Hello Esther,

It’s a pleasure to meet you. This is regarding the Artemis-level Orbital mentorship. We are Neo Wei Qing and Tan Yan Feng, two Year 1 Computer Science undergraduates. We intend to create a text-based RPG game, set in the fictional world created by Patrick Rothfuss in his famous Kingkiller Chronicle. In this trilogy, Rothfuss left fans on a cliffhanger and never released the final book, even after a decade. Our team hopes to bridge that gap with a novella, to see our own dreams fulfilled.

Our game will have two game-modes, one where the player plays as Kvothe (protagonist) in the main storyline, and another where players can play a Player vs Environment (PvE) game with others. Our characters will also have a skill tree based on the forms of magic that exist in this world, and players can traverse these trees and unlock new abilities.

We intend to make this game easy to get into, by running it off a Telegram bot. If the player wants the full experience, then they can simply install the application for it and access their game progress from there.

We are messaging you as we have read from your profile that you have experience in visual and interaction design as well as UI/UX design. We hope that you would be able to advise us with respect to these aspects of our game, as neither of us have much experience in these areas. However, we are very willing to learn more and are not afraid of challenges. As we are creating a game that hopes to be inclusive towards anyone interested in the Fantasy genre, we aim to be able to build a game that has strong user design in order to ensure accessibility - we hope that this aligns with your design philosophy.

We hope this proposal resonates with you, and if there are any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
