A personalized message: Why should the mentor pick your team?
Hi Robin! It has been great working with you, despite us having little experience in software engineering projects. We hope you can continue to guide us on this project!
Our past year in NUS Computer Science has made us excited to embark on this NUS Orbital journey that we believe will be fulfilling for not just us, but for you - the mentor. We are both extremely driven learners and are passionate about dipping our toes DEEP into the world of technology.
We are both interested in learning more about various software development tools. Zechary is more inclined towards back-end web development with an interest in Machine Learning while Rayner is leaning towards front-end web development with an interest in Cloud computing.
Thank you for considering our team and we hope that we can work with you in the future!
We are highly motivated students who are dedicated to seeing our Orbital project to completion and making full use of this great opportunity to learn more about software development outside of academic settings. We are interested in exploring software engineering via this opportunity and thus, we are hoping to try and learn new things to ensure that our Orbital journey will be a meaningful one.
We hope that you will consider our team and we look forward to your mentorship and guidance! Thank you!
We are interested in furthering our skills in full-stack web development and believe that your expertise can help us achieve this goal. Your mentorship would provide us with the opportunity to learn more about software engineering and enable us to perfect our web application. We are dedicated and passionate about software engineering and are committed to completing this project to the best of our ability and have a lot of fun while doing so.
We hope you consider our team and it would be a pleasure to have you as our mentor.
We are a team of motivated students who will be embarking on a journey to build our first fully functional web + mobile app. We hope to make the fullest of Orbital to develop essential both technical and non-technical software development skills. Our proposed project, Project ReHash centres around the idea that buttering is still relevant in today’s monetized society, where one’s trash may be another person’s gold. Our website will be a platform for users to swap anything, including intangibles such as experiencing another person’s hobby, skills and expertise, and possibly even tutoring sessions where students can complement one another’s academic strengths.
We highly value you as our team’s mentor due to your rich experience in tutoring students from NUS, and mentoring/advising past Orbital teams. We also highly value your expertise as your interest in various aspects of software engineering, such as project testing and project management are skills that we have not been exposed to but are committed to pick up in the next three months. In addition to that, your experience in data analytics will be of great help to us as our project plans to integrate machine learning and data visualization for displaying trends of swaps and personalized swapping recommendations to users.
Aside from software development, we look up to you as a mentor for possible career and industry advice. We look forward to having a fruitful discussion with you regarding our project and possible mentorship. Wish you an awesome day ahead!
We're team exhaustedUpset, and we're looking to build a cross platform mobile app called moot! moot is an anonymous chat application that is focused on encouraging and incentivising deep meaningful discussions and allowing users to engage with a diverse array of interesting perspectives, opinions and ideas.
In the digital world, we seem to be losing the ability to form real human connections. Reduced attention span lends itself to quick snap judgements instead of long form genuine brain-picking sessions. moot provides an avenue for people to have genuine conversations, where asynchronous and anonymous interactions are possible, without the need to worry about first impressions and presentation. All that matters is the exchange of ideas, sans judgement.
To make this happen, we'll need to quickly level up our skills in UI/UX design, backend and databases; we think that your experiences in software engineering and interaction design will really help us a great deal. We hope that you're as excited about making this a reality as we are and that you'll be interested in joining us in revitalising the social interaction scene in NUS and beyond :) We look forward to working with you!
Inspired by the will to help a senior who was unable to secure a stay within NUS, we decided to develop a 1 stop solution for tenants to find housemates/roommates and accommodation choices in Singapore.
Our solution revolves around the idea of auto matchmaking and a comprehensive tagging system.
Also, we would like to look into data crawling as a means of providing more housing options to our website’s users and hence your guidance and expertise in data mining and machine learning is highly valued and appreciated.
We are a passionate team that is focused on the learning process, as well as how our solution benefits a larger community. We look forward to collaborating with you, both during Orbital and in the future.
It’s a pleasure to meet you. This is regarding the Artemis-level Orbital mentorship. We are Neo Wei Qing and Tan Yan Feng, two Year 1 Computer Science undergraduates. We intend to create a text-based RPG game, set in the fictional world created by Patrick Rothfuss in his famous Kingkiller Chronicle. In this trilogy, Rothfuss left fans on a cliffhanger and never released the final book, even after a decade. Our team hopes to bridge that gap with a novella, to see our own dreams fulfilled.
Our game will have two game-modes, one where the player plays as Kvothe (protagonist) in the main storyline, and another where players can play a Player vs Environment (PvE) game with others. Our characters will also have a skill tree based on the forms of magic that exist in this world, and players can traverse these trees and unlock new abilities.
We intend to make this game easy to get into, by running it off a Telegram bot. If the player wants the full experience, then they can simply install the application for it and access their game progress from there.
We are messaging you as we have read that you are interested in Interaction Design, which we hope to learn more about given that we are building a user-centric game. Furthermore, we also hope to be able to learn more from your experience in software engineering and its principles, which would be greatly beneficial to our project.
We hope this proposal resonates with you, and if there are any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
