Our past year in NUS Computer Science has made us excited to embark on this NUS Orbital journey that we believe will be fulfilling for not just us, but for you - the mentor. We are both extremely driven learners and are passionate about dipping our toes DEEP into the world of technology.

We are both interested in learning more about various software development tools. Zechary is more inclined towards back-end web development with an interest in Machine Learning while Rayner is leaning towards front-end web development with an interest in Cloud computing.

We believe that you would be a good match as our mentor due to your vast experience with Web Project Development which falls in line with our solution. We would be really excited to have the opportunity to hone our abilities as web developers with you as our mentor. Furthermore, it just so happens that I (Rayner) am volunteering at Code in the Community as well and am currently an assistant for one of the Python L2 classes teaching Microbit! :)

Thank you for considering our team and we hope that we can work with you in the future! :D

Hi Mr. Ng,

Timothy and I (Ernest) are first-year NUS Computing students and are the creators of ShutterSwipe.

ShutterSwipe is a Web-based application that combines an intuitive swiping feature and various algorithms to share photos. We want to focus on the quality of photos rather than the popularity of users like so many other social media platforms. Our team also has many other additional features planned!

We are certain that your storied experience in developing multiple projects will no doubt aid us in realizing ShutterSwipe’s potential. Additionally, your technical know-how in Web Development is definitely valued in setting us on the right path. Timothy and I are extremely eager to learn from an esteemed individual such as yourself.

This idea has been a passion project for us long before Orbital. Our aspirations for ShutterSwipe extend well beyond the scope of this program and we would like a mentor who is able to guide us through our journey. We hope that you are able to see our passion and dedication for ShutterSwipe and humbly request that you join us as our mentor.

Thank You!

Timothy & Ernest

Dear Ng Chee Chiu,

Having personally worked in a company that is relatively traditional in terms of its business processes, KarWi and YuTao have observed the pitfalls of not opting to make a digital transformation in today’s world. The Covid pandemic has further solidified our belief that if a business does not take the initiative now to digitalise their workflow, it will impede their future development and result in loss of sustainability.

We think this is a pressing issue that especially needs attention in today’s context. We want to subvert their stubborn mindset, we want to convince them that utilizing digital software can be as simple as ABC, and yet efficient and will bring about real gains in their profits.

Despite already having a clear idea of how to go about doing this, we still believe that we need some professional guidance from a mentor with a strong background in this area. As we are by no means business or software development wizards and seeing that you have a relatively strong background in both web development and management, we will appreciate it if we could get personally mentored by you. I believe you could help us elevate our ideas to a greater height.

Both of us, Karwi and Yutao are extremely eager learners and have a strong desire to make a positive impact in the world. Karwi has experience in full-stack web development and has worked on several personal and organisational projects before, while Yutao is well-versed in Django API backend.

Regards,
TOH KAR WI, TAN YU TAO

Hello Chee Chiu, we are SponsorLah!, a pair of Computer Science freshmen from Malaysia. Our Orbital project is called Sponsorr!, a web application that matches events with sponsors for the purpose of event sponsorship.

The platform not only serves as a marketplace for event organisers and sponsors, but under its hood is a machine-learning powered matching algorithm that generates optimal event-sponsor pairings, which removes the logistical overhead of searching for sponsorships.

Your extensive experience in web project development, management, and various other business solutions can be the guiding force behind the implementation and solidification of our ideas.

We believe that our mentor-mentee pairing can be a formidable one, given the relevance of our project’s tech to your skills and expertise in the field. Feel free to contact us to find out more about who we are and what our vision for this project is - we would be happy to schedule a call with you to discuss further. Let’s see our creation go to the moon under your mentorship!

Hi Mr Ng,

We are project ReHash, a team of two highly motivated Computer Science students looking to build a novel platform: a combination of web app + mobile app for anyone to swap anything anywhere! Our project centres around the idea that buttering is still relevant in today’s monetized society, where one’s trash may be another person’s gold. Our website will be a platform for users to swap anything, including intangibles such as experiencing another person’s hobby, skills and expertise, and possibly even tutoring sessions where students can complement one another’s academic strengths.

We would like to invite you to be our team's mentor due to your vast experience in project management. As freshmen, we would be guided and exposed to good coding habits and have a good grasp of effective software development life cycle processes. Our team strongly believes that clean and scalable code, together with good management and planning is the key to success of any software project. Aside from that, we have also visited some of your websites such as Websparks, and was impressed by the UI/UX design and scalability of the portfolios on Websparks.

Hence, we hope you can consider our team as your mentee and guide us through our Orbital journey to groom us into better software developers. Have a nice day ahead!

Best wishes,
Team Project ReHash
